In order to meet increased demand for their automotive, industrial and indoor air quality gas sensors, SGX will open a new manufacturing and development facility in Katowice, Southern Poland by the end of 2015.
The purpose-built site is located on the Euro-Centrum Science Park situated in the heart of the technology district of the city. It will complement the manufacturing facilities in Switzerland, within the air quality sensor division, and will produce the high volume automotive air quality sensing modules and micro-electromechanical (MEMS) flammable gas sensors as well as producing a range of other sensing products. Southern Poland and the area around Katowice and Krakow is home to a number of multinational automotive tier one producers who have located to the region for strategic reasons. The Silesian coal and industrial sectors also present opportunities for SGX’s industrial gas sensing products.
According to Frank Jachomowski, SGX’s Head of Automotive Sales, “Driver comfort and awareness continue to provide significant impetus to the uptake of our air quality measurement devices in automotive applications. Our new facility in Katowice will ensure we stay ahead of demand and maintain our world class on-time delivery and quality performance.”
SGX Sensortech is a leading manufacturer of indoor air quality, automotive and industrial gas sensors as well as a significant player in the measurement of X-ray radiation.
